It's time to throw away the dried up Christmas candy, eliminate carbs, and dump the half used bottle of wine down the drain (OH WAIT!…what half used bottle of wine???). It's JANUARY!! This is my least favorite month of the year in Colorado but LUCKY US! Groupon has a coupon for weight loss pants! Can you even imagine? What do these things do? I am pretty sure it would require surgical removal by hour 3 via pruning shears! I have a few friends (not many!) who just have never had to worry about weight or food. HATE! Well, not really…I think it is kind of fun to watch a 96 pound friend eat a rack of ribs, buttered rolls, and dessert knowing that someday when I am knocking on heaven's gate yelling "Let me in, I'm hungry" she will be there with a platter of warm sugar cookies . After-all, I am sure she will succumb somewhat earlier in this life since she eats so much saturated fat unless of course I die on a 5K trying to keep up with the young, granola mom in her 30's. Speaking of which, I had a GREAT conversation today with my friends: there is NOTHING wrong with growing older as long as the "goal lists" are reachable and fun. Granted we bounced around the idea of doing the "Tough- Mudder", we quickly realized it would be better to be holding the beer at the finish line for those motivated early 30's people!
CHEERS! And HANG in there!

So what's on your "goal lists"? Can you share? My friends and I suffer through January too, so much so that we struggle even to come up with fun, reachable goals besides "survive until spring."

I can relate, Jenny!! One of my friends commented, "Learning to shoot my new rifle with the precision of a Marine sniper!!! Shot my 1911 like Clint Eastwood in Dirty Harry!!!!"...HAHA...but I think it varies from making something new for dinner once a week to going dancing, staying overnight downtown instead of rushing home, and giving yourself permission to have fun doing something out of the comfort zone. One of my friends is taking horseback riding lessons! I think it is awesome! I would love to hear what you do in MN. It was 70 here one day this week...felt great...winter is back next week! Big hugs!
