Let's see: Fanatic Frenzy Frustrated Fearful Foolish Feral Food -vs- Fancy Fantastic Fabulous Foxy Funky Hold on a second...the list of bad F words includes FOOD!...It is a life giver, sustainer, and ultimately responsible for our vitamins, minerals, nutrients and so much more, so WHY is it THE F word? For me, Food is the F word. I was raised to fear food. It caused disease, obesity, fatness ( yes...that is an F word) and has now stripped society of any FUN. Granted, I love to cook, almost to a fault. I like fresh ingredients and Flavor...Unfortunately, I have trained myself to fear food for the sake of my age and waist!...This is not to say I am skinny...I wish ( maybe that wasn't PC) . I have just learned to never enjoy treats because they cause guilt which in turn causes random acts of over exercise and mental anguish. It is with great self loathing that I start the next day with great intentions and healthy options. This is why I am choosing to no longer diet...I simply watch what I eat, and, along with close friends, use the food tracker app. Knowing that food to me is like a drink to an alcoholic, I try to start every day making good choices, planning some exercise and keeping within my calorie limits. I love how recent studies are now showing life spans of those on all protein style diets are shorter. Ultimately, people take it to the extreme and cover their steak with cream sauce, knowing it is " no carbs" and justify their food to excess. Personally, I went to a meeting this week and met ladies who were gluten free, sugar free, paleo, non-shade-plant eating Boulderites ( for lack of a better word). I had brought the food. Ooops!... As I write, I am flying to Napa. I am hoping to relax and enjoy and monitor and live a little...without feeling fear and guilt. This week: Find balance...it's ok to have a treat Fellowship with others...laugh! Feed your body...the good stuff comes First Fully appreciate the Food... I was walking through Macys this week...it happened to be the bathing suit section on my way to the dresses. A salesperson asked if she could help me. I stopped...and quickly said ( obviously without thinking) " Yes, I am looking for a size 6 body to fit into one of these bikinis"... We both just laughed and I moved on... Cheers! CoffeeTalkMom
