Top 50 for 50

Turning 50 this weekend…yep…half a century…Used to think someone who was 35-ish was OLD and now here I am. Life flies!

I'm a little over the "bucket list over 50" books. Let's face it, I am never going to skydive or bungee jump and I am 100% ok with that. As an alternative, I have come up with 50 things you may not know about me…just in case I become rich and famous and you win a trivia contest someday. Please note that there is no rhyme, reason, or order to any of this: I'm old and am pretty sure I have undiagnosed adult ADD.

1. I lived in Wyoming for 18 months in middle school…it was frightening to me.
2. I still have a friend from that time (Hi Gale)
3. I was baptized in the hospital since the doctors did not think I would live
4. Dave and I were both born in Long Beach, CA.
5. I can tape any body part for maximum athletic performance. (although it's been awhile)
6. I hate eggplant.
7. When I was a kid, I got sick on Orange Julius and those fruit rollup things and can't eat them to this day.
8. Same goes for eggnog…it ruined a Christmas
9. I was a witch at Halloween my entire childhood (we had dark, long hair, and my sister and I had no choice)
10. I was a good witch
11. I have never smoked pot…
12. I don't believe in journaling…I wouldn't want anyone to read it anyway.
13. I have no regrets about getting married at 21
14. I was once rescued form a cliff (911 style) when my hair got caught in the figure eight clip while repelling…
15. I like to barter for things that are boring to spend money on
16. Dave gave me the email "nordygirl" before Al Gore invented the internet
17. I had a Nordstrom party when they opened their first store at Park Meadows and was on the evening news
18. I played volleyball with the Carnegie Mellon grad school team.
19. I hate hot weather… makes me feel tired and nauseous.
20. I love the beach…any water actually…I feel free when I swim.
21. I loved the razor scooter until I fell and broke my watch.
22. I used to roller skate with my brother Rob and make up programs and invite the neighborhood and sell tickets
23. I think our grandma was our biggest fan
24. I love working with and having my own teenagers.
25. I get motion sick…and if effects daily life
26. I like to watch planes take-off and land…I just don't like to be in them.
27. I shower at night
28. I hate scary movies
29. I dream almost every night
30. Sometimes the things I dream about come true
31. Dave is freaked out by that
32. My greatest accomplishment in life is having my boys
33. I lifeguarded for 5 summers and now I can't relax by pools with kids in them.
34. I love to read, but tend to cruise through books on trips when I can focus.
35. I get so nervous watching sports that I have to pace or leave the room
36. I was a coach for 10 years
37. I'm fine going away, but I hate it when others "leave me"
38. I have never eaten lamb or veal
39. I love to laugh and make others laugh!
40. I have an auto immune disease
41. I want a sous-chef and a dishwasher in my next life so I can cook and not clean up…God? Anybody?
42. I think it would be cool to sell everything and start over
43. I am allergic to cats
44. My Mom used to hand -paint our front windows for each holiday (pre- Martha Stewart)
45. My Dad doesn't have a college degree but is one of the smartest people I know
46. My friend Ann blindfolded me and took me to have my ears pierced in high school because she thought it was weird that I hadn't done it yet.
47. I once sang in a back-up choir behind Celine Dion at Red Rocks
48. I almost tripped getting to my spot because it was pitch black and we were wearing robes.
49. I have all of the linking verbs memorized…ask me sometime!
50. I'm not a camper…oh wait,, you already know that!
