Hi all of you Coffee Talk People!
Hope you had a GREAT weekend and spent some time catching up and working on YOU! Part of the humor of our snow weekend was the hormonal differences on display. A young girl last week said to me, "I don't think men should marginalize women for what they wear. They should just look the other way"… I had to laugh since I live with men. Men are GOING to look…they are wired to look. They are built to look. In the same way, Sunday brought cancelled church and an early crock pot of chili followed by the statement, "Well…Today is DAYTONA day!"…followed by 3 hours of racetrack sounds emanating from every possible speaker in the house. We were LIVE! Why go to the race, when you have surround-sound, walls shaking, and a captive audience of one? What says "manly" more than the Daytona 500 and chili? On a positive note, apparently the race is a prime time to do laundry…so there was that.
Feeling the need to counter, I insisted that CTD wire every TV with every possible "Pre-Oscar" recording. What says "lady" more than a white wine and the fashion show of the year? I relished my time last night racing through the Academy Awards and texting friends to see their opinions on the dresses, tuxes, and capes. I felt no need to have or attend an Oscar Party as the best way to watch is from the comfort of your own family room, nestled in blinged- out sweat pants and a "real" wine glass of the good stuff. On a side-note, I just wish J Lo would sew up her clothes a little because her dress was amazing! I loved the Sound of Music Gaga style, and the acceptance speech about calling your mom and dad. I called my mom this morning and had a good, long talk…at her pace...not mine.
In the end, we both got "our way" and had the added excuse of the snowy roads to avoid all other issues and errands calling our name. Time to get back to work!
Happy Monday!

P.S. Taking it old school with some real 70's fashion…matching lunchbox (duh) and a nice flat front and mock turtleneck on my brother…that's right…my mom was the bomb!
