Poll Question: How many pillows are on your bed? Stop what you are doing…and go look now…you can comment below!
SO…what is the big deal about pillows? They are cute, and comfortable, changeable, and necessary and that is why I have no problem telling you that we have 11 pillows on our bed and each and every one of them has a purpose. Let's start with the sleeping pillow. This pillow is the cream of the crop and the only one I use when I sleep. This is a solid, but not too puffy pillow that supports my neck. Next is the "squishy" pillow, completely and totally non-negotiable for the "hugging" motion when we sleep on our sides. Otherwise, where would my arm go? It would have to hang lifelessly down and I would have to unconsciously support myself and wake up with a sore shoulder…if not for the "Squishy". Next is the reading pillow. Who likes to hold their book on their stomach in bed with no support? NO –ONE! You MUST concur that one needs a supportive surface to hold novels, magazines and the like. Multiplied by 2 that is 6. 2 pillows should have signs that read, "Do not touch or wrinkle or otherwise deface these…They are more expensive shams and we can't afford to replace them". 3 more are added for the "cuteness" factor. There could be more, and justifiably so, but I personally have limited myself to three with this particular bedding ensemble.
Men…when ladies see stylish bedrooms in magazines and on Pinterest, there are typically a minimum of 8-15 pillows garnishing the bed. This is attractive to us. Don't complain when making the bed, men. Rejoice in the fact that your bed is made and beautiful in a room that you may never return to until later that night. Don't even TRY to NOT make this thing of beauty and please don't ask the proverbial question: "Why do we have so many pillows?". Heck, it makes us feel good to have an escape of fluffy goodness. Yesterday, I even made my college kid's bed for him so he could "feel more organized". As I stacked and arranged, I just felt the stress of Calculus 3 leaving his body. Since I was so helpful to him, he even asked if I could use some help with a 5 bit, 2's complement multiplier. Ya…that got me out of his room pretty quick!
