Without getting too specific, I have had too many of these days the past couple of months. Where does this come from? The book of Daniel in the bible tells the story of 3 men who face a fiery end. They chose not to bow down to any other gods and move forward into the fire, knowing that there is a good chance they will be burned and die. Regardless, they follow God and trust that he will rescue them. But, "Even if He doesn't..." It is hard to imagine the strength it took to KNOW that even when faced with death, God was still good. Most of us don't face fiery furnaces on the daily, but some of the things we go thru represent that to us. What is your fiery furnace that you are facing? Maybe a health crisis, the loss of a job, a time of loneliness? Take a minute today and trust in the fact that HE is still good...He knows our hearts and desires. He is doing a work that maybe you cannot see or understand through this crisis. Hold on! His promises are true.
For these three men, the bible tells us that not a hair on their heads was singed, their robes were not scorched and their was no smell of smoke on them. I can only imagine coming through a crisis with "no smell of fire on me". I'm personally pretty "smelly" after crisis...running through scenarios in my head, verbalizing the negative to others, and sometimes even thinking it was by my own good deeds I came through it. Consider this, maybe you are more of a witness to others when you don't smell like smoke. I hope no one passes me in the months to come saying, "What's that smell"?
Hang On...He is still Good
