Have you ever been in a great unknown season? It’s strange, because this Coffee Talk Mom has felt like NOT talking. It has been a road...and one I hope you never have to travel.. Chances are, you already have been down a road of your own...a road of uncertainty ...a road of surrender. Being a planner and liking order, I have been challenged. From one day to the next, we didn’t have a plan and we couldn’t make one without having to change it. Welcome to life.
Amidst the chaos of the past 3+ months, I have learned SO much. I started asking friends to “Tell Me Something Good” on social media. I have realized that even in the pain, there is ALWAYS something good. Some days it has been hard to find it. For us, it was a smile and warm greeting from the Valet guys at CU Anschutz who we got to know very well, an unexpected dinner, flowers on the porch, and cards in the mail. This week we received two cards with #tellmesomethinggood and it absolutely made our day. I read that you should ACT how you want to FEEL and that has helped me get through...
This week I wanted to share a #tellmesomethinggood with you. After the last surgery where we found out that CTD has lost his sight, we told our new BFF (aka the young doctor who has been with us every step of the way since early November) that we believed everything happened for a reason...even with all of the disappointment and pain. We asked him if he had learned anything from his time with us. He shared that on Christmas Day, when he couldn’t join us for dinner, he had been called to Children’s Hospital for a little 5 year old girl who had “found” a cactus while playing hide and go seek. The way he performed the surgery and the injections to ward off infection were because of what he learned from CTD. There is always something good.
CTD is on the road to recovery, and, in the process of removing part of the iris, his left eye is now blue. His cornea transplant is holding, and there is hope to save the eye itself. He will be my favorite “husky” and I have never thought his eyes were more beautiful. Prayer is HUGE for us and we THANK YOU and all of your prayer warriors for the continued support. Find something good today!
Love you,
CoffeeTalkMom
