I will start with this...a couple of years ago we had a friend who did a “silence retreat”...OMG...I’m pretty sure it would be my biggest nightmare! He literally had to go one week with NO speaking...no interaction...no Netflix...no nothing. If you think I am crazy now...I am pretty sure I would drive myself to the brink.
That said, “What if someone told you that you couldn’t use your phone or internet or TV for a week?”... Now, granted...some of you are much stronger than myself. You think, “Thank you, Jesus...I will read books!”... Now, my initial reaction is, “Me too!”... Well...stay tuned!
CoffeeTalkMom and CoffeeTalkDad are heading on an “adventure” to Alaska. By adventure, I don’t mean sleeping in a tent. I am talking no tv or internet. I AM definitely looking forward to some peace and quiet...the sway of the trees...laughter with friends...reading books...etc...It is just hard for me to relax. I am going to fight my instinct to get stuff done. When CTD checks out, he is not in any way tempted to multitask. He can turn it off. We literally had the “sleep” app turned on his watch and his record to “sleep” is 34 seconds. I can’t make this stuff up!
SO...it’s summer...here’s to some unplugging time. Take a chance that the world won’t stop spinning without your constant support. Maybe it is just for an hour. DO it with no guilt and take some time to recharge! I’ll be chasing bears (oh ya...I guess I need to pack a bell) and will report back to you all...I wonder if the town internet works at the library in Homer?
Cheers,
CoffeeTalkMom
